What is CNC machining?

CNC Machine, its full name is Computerized Numerical Control Machine. It’s a computer numerical control machine tool. People also call it a machining center or computer gong. It can process different materials like metals, plastics, wood, glass, and composite materials,It does this through ways like cutting, milling, drilling, and grinding.

Processing method

It’s mainly for milling, It can process parts of all shapes and sizes. Usually, it has a multi – axis control system.
CNC turning machine: It’s mainly for processing rotating CNC machining parts,It can do various internal and external cylindrical surfaces, conical surfaces, and spherical surfaces efficiently.

Working principle


Input: The operator writes the geometric and process information of the cnc custom parts to be processed into a CNC program with a special programming language. Then, the operator puts this program into the control system of the CNC machine tool. This information includes the part’s shape, size, processing path, and cutting parameters.
Processing: The control system decodes, calculates, and does logical processing on the input program. It changes the program into motion instructions and other control signals for each coordinate axis of the machine tool. This controls the machine tool’s movement.
Drive: The signal from the control system makes each coordinate axis of the machine tool move through the drive device, like the servo motor driver. So, the tool and the workpiece move relative to each other as planned, and the part processing is done.

Components


Control system: It’s the heart of CNC manufacturing, It’s like a human brain. It tells and coordinates the work of different parts of the machine tool.
Machine tool body: It’s the machine tool’s mechanical structure. It has the bed, column, workbench, spindle box, and feed mechanism. It gives the mechanical movement and support needed for processing.
Drive system: It gets the control system’s instructions. It makes the moving parts of each coordinate axis of the machine tool move. It can control the position and speed precisely. It’s mainly made up of servo motors, drivers, and transmission devices.
Auxiliary devices: Things like the cooling system, lubrication system, chip removal device, and protective device. They help the machine tool work and process normally.
